The universal health care coverage model that is displayed in multiple variations throughout the world, e.g. England, Canada, most Western European countries, is broken also. The upside to these types of programs is that everyone can access care. The downside is that very few can access care in a timely fashion. True emergencies are taken care of expeditiously, but patients needing non-emergency care and surgery often suffer with their symptoms for long periods of time because of the long waiting periods.

Let's cut to the chase, no one likes war. During WWII FDR, one of our greatest presidents, had to make the very unpopular decision to go to war and save the world from Hitler. If he had not made this very gutsy and unpopular decision, German would be the native tongue of a majority of Europeans.

As a country of immigrants, we should be proud of our immigrant heritage and welcoming to legal immigrants. The problem is the illegal ones. Illegal immigration presents problems at multiple levels: national security, the health care system, the welfare system, and the economy. How we manage our illegal immigration problem will reverberate far and wide.
The simplest answer is Amnesty. Simple is not always good. You don't have a problem anymore, if you just tell everyone you can stay. This is a bad idea at multiple levels. From a security standpoint, you don't know who is here and why they are here. The flood of immigrants is already crippling the health care and welfare system in many states, and the crippling effect would only continue.
